A Christmas Carol

Actor dazzles as all characters in A Christmas Carol

Logo.Theatre Royal Winchester logo-1Theatre fans are in for a festive treat when a cleverly inventive one-man adaptation of A Christmas Carol heads to Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday 19 – Wednesday 20 November.

The 1843 Charles Dickens’ classic tells the story of elderly miser Ebenezer Scrooge who hates Christmas and refuses to spend Christmas dinner with his nephew and family. On Christmas Eve night he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and three others, who show him scenes from his Christmas past, present and ‘yet to come’ – and fearing a bleak future where people rejoice over his death, Scrooge promises to change his ways. The following morning, Christmas Day, he visits his nephew for dinner, makes a charitable donation, gives an employee a pay rise and becomes a father figure to the well-known Tiny Tim – a little boy happy though ill.

This brilliant rendition features a cast of one – the internationally renowned, multi-award winning actor, Guy Masterson, who performs every role, from Scrooge to Marley, even Tiny Tim – and more.

Masterson is well-known around the world for his solo performances of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood and George Orwell’s Animal Farm.

He has acted, produced and directed shows that he has toured worldwide, and has worked with film and TV stars, such as Christian Slater, Mackenzie Crook, Bill Bailey and Alan Davies.

Masterson has also featured on TV, including on Casualty, and worked as a freelance critic and feature writer for many global publications; and now in A Christmas Carol he conjures up an enchanting performance that will dazzle festive theatre goers, ready for an early festive fix.

A Christmas Carol will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday 19 – Wednesday 20 November. Find out more, or book tickets, at theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01962 840 440.
