These local firms donated a brand new MG MG3 hatchback for the charity to offer as grand prize in the Naomi House & Jacksplace Christmas Lottery draw. The winner of the car was won by Sheila Russell, from Southampton, who collected her prize from the Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices in Winchester on Monday 3 February.
Sheila was thrilled to accept her brand new car from Paul Morgan, Director of Fundraising at Naomi House & Jacksplace, John McGilveray from Beal’s Estate Agents and Thomas Cullen from Richmond Motors. She has been playing the Naomi House & Jacksplace lottery for more than five years, so was over the moon to have won the car.
You don’t expect to win, you buy the tickets but never expect to actually win! I lost my husband last year and it was always his dream to win a brand new car, so to receive the phone call from Naomi House was completely amazing. I don’t drive, so I am going to try and sell the car and give some of the money to my children and maybe have a little holiday.
Thomas Cullen, from Richmond Motor Group said:
This is the second time we have supported Naomi House & Jacksplace in this way and were pleased to see the car go to such a worthy winner. The charity is a cause very close to our hearts so we made sure we helped sell as many tickets as possible by touring the car around the local area, including shopping centres and local events. We hope Mrs Russell enjoys relaxing on a well-deserved holiday with her family and are delighted to have supported Naomi House & Jacksplace again; something we hope to do so again in the future.
Speaking about the Naomi House & Jacksplace lottery, Paul Morgan, Director of Fundraising said:
Go for it! It’s there to be won. There is a £1000 every single week up for grabs and the lucky winner could be you. It costs just £1 per entry and you can sign up in minutes on the Naomi House & Jacksplace website. We want to thank Mrs Russel for taking part in the lottery for so many years and are so pleased a long-standing Naomi House & Jacksplace supporter emerged the winner.
John McGilveray from Beal’s Estate Agents commented that:
It was a pleasure to be able to support Naomi House & Jacksplace for another year by providing the car for their Christmas Bumper Draw. As we are a local company, we like to make sure we are supporting local charities, as you never know when you or someone you know may need their vital services. Congratulations to Mrs Russell; we hope this will encourage even more people to play the Naomi House charity lottery as there are some incredible cash prizes up for grabs – the next winner could be you!
Beal’s Estate Agents have 12 branches across the Portsmouth and Southampton area, while Richmond Motor Group have showrooms in Botley, Fareham, Farlington, Southampton and Guildford.
Naomi House needs to raise £9.2 million each year in order to run a full service and deliver its plans. The charity receives less than 11% of its income from statutory sources, meaning that the vast majority of the charity’s income comes from the generous donations of individuals, groups and companies. It is this dedicated fundraising that allows the hospices to continue to offer their services to families free of charge
