The Woodside Singers are returning to Romsey Abbey at 7:30pm on Saturday 27th April 2019 to perform the moving and beautiful “Requiem” choral works by John Rutter and Gabriel Fauré. Accompanied by the acclaimed professional chamber orchestra Nova Foresta Classical Players and with outstanding guest soloists Rachel Floyd (soprano) and John Barker (baritone), it will be an evening not to be missed.
The choir has been entertaining audiences in the Waterside and New Forest areas for over 35 years, and more recently, under the directorship of Catherine Gosney, is undertaking more challenging and inspiring choral pieces which are in turn enticing eminent soloists and accompanists, as for this performance.
The Nova Foresta Classical Players, founded in 2017 by Philip Daish-Handy and Martin Penrose, specialises in music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic Eras and is quickly gaining recognition as a musical force to be reckoned with, frequently performing to sell out crowds and proudly providing a platform for the young musicians of the future.
Tickets range from £12 to £18 (U16s free), available from the Romsey Tourist Information Centre on 01794 512987 or www.ticketsource.co.uk/musicinromsey. There will be a collection on the door for Cancer Research UK.
