Pantaloons outdoor performance now coming to The Lights

The Lights brings open air theatre to Andover

The much acclaimed and well-loved Pantaloons will be bringing their outdoor touring performance of Twelfth Night to Beech Hurst Park on 9 August

Although The Lights theatre remains dark currently due to the impact of Covid-19, the venue has continued to work behind the scenes to keep the love of theatre alive in the local area.  With recent restrictions eased to allow open air performances, The Lights is delighted to work with the hugely popular Pantaloons to bring you live theatre in the open air.

Regular performers at the venue, The Pantaloons have played to a packed house on many occasions with shows including A Christmas Carol, The War of the Worlds, The Odyssey, and Macbeth.  Famously known for their comedic and clever interpretations of classic tales, they draw from a wide variety of popular theatre traditions, from commedia dell’arte and pantomime to stand-up comedy and silent movies, to bring what they consider to be a vital sense of “play” back to classical performance.

Twelfth Night will be no exception!  Get in a fight. Cross-dress. Throw on some yellow stockings. Love can make you do the funniest things…! The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company present their own brand of open-air Shakespeare mayhem. A bumper edition of family-friendly fun with live music and audience participation.

Leader of the council, Councillor Phil North, said:

The gradual relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions means that we can bring some cheer back to the borough. Alongside the recent announcement that we will be able to provide a small programme of family fun for Four Fun Fridays in August, I am delighted to see that The Lights is adapting creatively to bring an entertaining slice of theatre back to the town. This is the first foray into providing a safe, socially distanced experience, and will be set within the lovely surroundings of Beech Hurst Park.

There will be two performances of Twelfth Night at 2.30pm and 6pm on Sunday, 9 August.  Numbers are restricted to ensure the safe enjoyment of the audience and must be pre-booked at The Lights Box Office: 01264 368368 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, telephone only, or online here. Tickets are just £10 per head.

Customers are encouraged to book in couples, family groups or as part of a Covid ‘bubble’ where possible to maximise the safe seating capacity in the park.  Audience goers will need to bring their own seating such as camping or deck chairs.  Please note that picnic blankets are not allowed due to spacing restrictions.  Full guidelines to maintaining your safe enjoyment at this event can be found on the Twelfth Night event pages on our website
