This year’s carol concert from Andover’s chamber choir, The Harmonium Singers, is in support of the Countess of Brecknock Hospice which still needs funds for its new building extension. Once again St Mary’s Church in Andover is the venue and this year the seasonal readings will be given by former BBC journalist and broadcaster Bruce Parker.
Musical director Bruce Randall explains:
This traditional carol concert is a popular mix of old and new, with arrangements by the likes of John Rutter and David Willcocks, together with some recent additions to the Christmas music repertoire, and of course favourite carols for all to sing. So there’s something for everyone and all designed to take full advantage of the wonderful setting and acoustic of St Mary’s. We’re particularly pleased this year to be raising money for the Hopsice which provides such an indispensible service to the local community, and to have the participation of Bruce Parker who is one of the trustees.
The concert, entitled ‘O Holy Night’, begins at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Andover on Saturday 15 December. Tickets are £8 in advance from Newbury Building Society, The Lights and choir members, or £10 at the door. Under 14s are admitted free.
