Sparkling tea raises £1700 for Andover’s hospice

The Mayor of Test Valley’s most recent charity event has raised thousands for Andover’s hospice…

Held at the idyllic Houghton Lodge near Stockbridge on 24th March, the Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Ian Carr MBE’s latest event – a charity ‘sparkling tea’ – has raised £1700 for charity.

The event, benefitting The Countess of Brecknock Hospice based in Andover, saw over 80 locals come together from across the borough to enjoy an afternoon of prosecco, finger sandwiches, scones, and homemade cakes, all within the tranquil setting of the Orangery at Houghton Lodge Gardens.

What’s more, setting the scene were Pete Moore’s Showband who played an hour’s set for attendees to listen and relax to whilst waiting for their tea.

Cllr Ian Carr MBE commented of his sparkling tea event:

I’m delighted with the outcome of the ‘Sparkling Tea’ and the incredible generosity of everyone who attended; the band, and those who helped me organise this, all for the benefit of The Countess of Brecknock Hospice.

The Mayor’s Sparkling Tea raised a total of £1700 which will be donated to The Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover; a specialist palliative care unit within Andover War Memorial Hospital.

Part of a repertoire of events held on behalf of the Mayor’s chosen charities for 2018/19, the next in the calendar will be a charity ball, held at the Army Flying Museum on 4th May.
