Shops, businesses and services throughout Test Valley will be celebrating Small Business Saturday this weekend.
On December 1, people across the borough will come together to celebrate those who have taken on the challenge of starting their own business. The day offers Test Valley residents the opportunity to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities. It is also a chance for local businesses to network with one another.
Many independent businesses in both Andover and Stockbridge will be offering free activities, discounts and gifts with purchases to celebrate the day. In Stockbridge, the day will end with the Christmas tree lights switch on.
Test Valley Borough Council supports new and small businesses throughout the year in many different ways, from grants and expert advice to help with skills training. The council was ‘highly commended’ in the Best All Round Small Business Friendly Council category at the Federation of Small Business Awards for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in September this year.
Test Valley Borough Council’s economic development and tourism portfolio holder, Councillor David Drew, said:
Sole traders account for many of the businesses in Test Valley and are a crucial part of the economy. They offer a unique level of originality and variety to consumers, which is something to be celebrated.
Test Valley Borough Council regularly supports small businesses throughout the year with a range of practical measures.
I am passionate about supporting new and small businesses across the borough, and, as a council, we are proud to support them every day.
MP for North West Hampshire, Kit Malthouse, and MP for Romsey and Southampton North, Caroline Nokes, will be visiting Andover and Stockbridge to promote Small Business Saturday and meet with a variety of small businesses.
