The Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Ian Carr, recently visited local marine catering business Wathen Marine Catering Equipment Services Ltd, to help celebrate the team’s recent award-win.
Based in Romsey, Wathen Marine Catering Equipment Services Ltd – known for creating bespoke & holistic marine catering equipment services for commercial and military vessels – were declared winners of Wilkins Kennedy’s Small Business of the Year Award category in this year’s Test Valley Business Awards; beating almost 60 other category entries and over 220 entries across the programme.
Claiming one of only 6 top spots at the 2018 Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony, the team at Wathen Marine Catering Equipment Services Ltd. had the opportunity to show the Mayor, Peter Speirs of Romsey Chamber of Commerce, and category sponsor Wilkins Kennedy’s Paul Tilley around their premises; meeting employees, and learning more about what the business does.
Director of Wathen Marine Catering Equipment Services Ltd, Ieuan Wathen, said of the visit:
It was a privilege to show the Mayor of Test Valley around our premises and talk to him in more detail about what we do; to have the chance to celebrate our recent successes as a growing business was a valuable opportunity.
Now in its 14th year, the Test Valley Business Awards – run by a steering group of volunteers – has become a well-established platform to champion business excellence. It is a great way of shining a light particularly on the many new and small businesses in the region, all doing interesting and valuable work, but often out of sight.
