Sir Harold Hillier Gardens reopens for its members

Members of Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Romsey will be welcome to return from Monday 8 June 2020 as part of a phased re-opening.

Leader of Hampshire County Council, Cllr Keith Mans said:

I am delighted to announce that following the latest Government guidance, the Gardens will be re-opening to members.

The well-being of our customers, staff and volunteers is paramount and preparations are underway to make sure safety measures are in place for when we open the doors again. Initially, the Gardens won’t be open to the general public, but we will increase capacity as Government restrictions ease further.

The Gardens team will be contacting members with a thorough explanation of what the safety measures will be. These include a pre-booking system to help avoid long queues, no payment transactions, and reduced accessible parking. Some toilets will be open but the visitor pavilion, café, restaurant, gift shop, exhibition gallery and play areas remain closed until further notice.

Councillor Mans added:

I would like to give my thanks to the Gardens staff who have been working hard to get us to this point. They have shown a great deal of passion and dedication in making everything ready under difficult circumstances.

In line with on-going Government guidance, the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens will move to the next phase with increased numbers of visitors and more facilities.

Key steps everyone should keep taking to minimise the spread of Coronavirus:

Adhere to social distancing.

  • Wash your hands often using soap and water, and dry them thoroughly
  • Use a tissue when coughing
  • Avoid touching your face
