And when the presents have been opened, there’s still plenty to keep the whole family entertained from adventures through a giant guitar, outdoor nature experiments and the return of the free Sounds Like Science show (Sunday 27 December 2020 to Monday 4 January 2021).

Santa has sprinkled Christmas cheer all around Winchester Science Centre this year! Experience the sounds of Christmas like you’ve never heard them before in Christmas Sounds Amazing. Be wowed as Santa teams up with the Inspirers to bring to life the sounds of Christmas like you’ve never heard them before – expect bells, bangs, booms and belly laughs! Head over to the indoor/outdoor experimentation zone, Bio:Space, to take part in some winter-themed nature activities and relax in the UK’s largest standalone Planetarium as you explore Santa’s epic annual journey through the stars.

And the fun doesn’t stop when the presents have been opened. Santa may be taking a well-earned break, but the Inspirers will be back for another exciting free live science show, Sounds Like Science (Sunday 27 December 2020 to Monday 4 January 2021), where they will be delving into the science behind the sounds through fun demos and exciting audience participation.

Visitors throughout the whole period will also be able to embark on an exhilarating adventure through the Science Centre’s brand new visitor experience. Feel your senses come alive as you explore the sights and sounds of an exciting new interactive sound, hearing and vibration exhibition and be wowed by huge festive explosions in Science LIVE. Venture into an enormous 10m long guitar to feel the vibrations, experience the wonder of acoustics inside the sonic rocket and climb inside a giant ear to explore its inner workings. Laugh and learn together by making sounds in the huge echo tubes, discover more about decibels, rhythm and frequency and try your hand at British Sign Language. You can even join the rescue crew to save Humphrey the Humpback Whale and meet the experts in our bringing Research to Life zone, plus so much more!
