Romsey Rapids Sports Complex members and staff raised £212.30 for Les Mills workout for water event in early September.
Both events were in aid of a great cause set up by Les Mills. Les Mills are a fitness company who provide a range of classes suitable for all ages and fitness abilities. The event ‘workout for water’ saw Les Mills and UNICEF in a partnership built on the common goal of creating a world where every child survives and thrives with the provision of clean water to those who don’t have access to it.
Places Leisure’s Test Valley contract manager Danny Churcher said:
We were really pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause and combine this with a fun event that incorporated a range of physical activity sessions.
The members really engaged and everyone that took part seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was also happy to see the staff get involved and help raise money for an important charity, which support children all over the world.
Members took part in a gruelling two hour studio class on Saturday 7 September featuring a mixture of Les Mills exercise programmes. Members battled through a class which featured 20 minute snippets of the following:
· Bodycombat
· Bodystep
· Bodypump
· Grit Cardio
On Wednesday 4 September staff members from the complex took part in an hour’s rapids and flume loop to raise money for the event. The complex has a 30 metre rapid channel, a medium speed 205ft long flume with 46 steps leading up to it. Six staff managed to complete the loop a whopping 102 times, meaning the flume was rode nearly twice per minute!
