Praise for Andover after being listed as ‘thriving’ town

There are “exciting times ahead” for Andover after it was named as one of the country’s most thriving towns in a national list.

Deputy leader of Test Valley Borough Council, councillor Nick Adams-King has reacted to the news after Andover was listed in the top 20Uber Towns in The Sunday Times.

The list, created by Savills Estate Agency, looked at data from 438 towns across England and Wales, including population growth, employment growth and house prices since 2009.

The top towns were found to have booming communities, growing economies and house prices that were then rising in value.

The figures put Andover in the top places as one of the country’s most booming towns with an average house price increase of nine per cent.

Councillor Adams-King said:

This list shows that the town is absolutely headed in the right direction with exciting times ahead. What is brilliant is how our plans for the future will build on these great figures. We are working with HemingwayDesign and NEW Masterplanning to create a blueprint of the redevelopment of the town centre and our residents and businesses will be key in the shaping of this plan.

This year also saw the opening of the new leisure centre and the Town Mills riverside project will only further enhance Andover.

Andover is full of potential which we are determined to realise and I look forward to seeing it continue to prosper over the coming years.
