Triathletes inspired by the Rio Olympics have the opportunity to register for Pedal, Paddle, Pace, Winchester’s annual triathlon with a twist, at a discounted rate. The event takes place on the 16th July, and follows a beautiful course along the River Itchen with a 20km cycle, followed by a 5km run. Anyone worried about getting their hair wet will be pleased to learn that this triathlon substitutes the traditional swimming leg for a 2km kayak, which are provided.
For a limited time only entry is just £39.99 per person or £75 for a team so there really is no excuse not to give this great event a tri!
In 2016 the event raised £15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and the ambitious team behind the race have set their sights on another bumper year with a bigger and better total helping to support even more people whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Every year, competition for the top places is stiff, but the course is also excellent for anyone looking to try their very first triathlon in a friendly and supportive environment. The event is sponsored by Forresters, intellectual property attorneys.
Managing Partner Lloyd Hoarton, who this year took part on a tandem bike, says:
Forresters have supported Macmillan for several years, and we are delighted to continue our support now as main sponsors of this year’s event, helping Macmillan make a real difference to many people’s lives.
Pedal Paddle Pace also presents plenty of opportunities to volunteer as the event is entirely run by a dedicated voluntary team. Volunteers are needed to help out on the day or, if they are feeling more ambitious, the organising committee are looking for new members – this is a great chance to get involved in a major Winchester event.
