Naomi House & Jacksplace encourages supporters to Spring into Action at home with virtual sporting event

Logo. Naomi House& JacksplaceNaomi House & Jacksplace has launched virtual sporting event, Spring into Action, to encourage supporters who are self isolating to get fit, stay active and raise awareness for the local children’s hospice.

Spring into Action is a fully flexible fitness event that has been designed to beat the boredom and keep participants fit in these uncertain times. The concept is simple: all participants have to do is choose an exercise, set a goal, shoot a video, share it on social media and tag @naomiandjack, with a donation button/link.

The charity called upon their sport and fitness contacts to help launch the event, by asking them to record simple fitness instruction videos that participants can do from home. Their sporty supporters stood up to the task, and the charity has already received videos from Enduro Stu, Owner of Foundry Fitness who previously took on a 12 hour, 30kg tyre drag for the charity; Lisa Lisle, Naomi House Nurse who is also a fitness instructor for Move Your Body, Alton, who has recorded a series of videos for the charity; 2shoez Fitness & Zumba, who warm up the crowds at the charity’s events; Robbie James, Presenter on Express FM and BBC Radio Solent; Naomi House dad, Peter Bradley, who runs personal training company, PB Fitness, and many more.

Charlotte Patrick, Events Fundraiser for Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

There are so many exercises you can do from home, and we’re here to help every step of the way! You can do push ups, star jumps, high-intensity interval training, weights, Zumba, turbo trainer cycling – there’s endless opportunities. And the types of goals you could set yourself include 3 Zumba sessions a week, 100 push ups a day for 10 days, one HIIT session every day for a month – we’ve found setting a goal motivates people to stick with it and challenge themselves, which is needed now more than ever, now that people are self isolating and stuck at home.

And why not support Naomi House & Jacksplace at the same time?! We want participants to share their journey with us by recording their workout on their phone, and sharing it on their social media channels, tagging: @naomiandjack. Participants can also raise money for Naomi House & Jacksplace by adding a donate button to their post on Facebook, or adding a link to our donate page on other channels.

Don’t forget to have some fun with it! Incorporate your dance mat or Wii Fit, get your friends involved on video chat, do a family dance once a day, turn your house clean into an exercise routine – the weirder, the better! Or just use it as an excuse to stay energised at home, whilst supporting your local hospices.

Following government guidelines, Naomi House & Jacksplace has temporarily suspended respite care at the hospices, turning its focus to end of life care only. The charity needs to raise £9.2 million each year in order to offer a comprehensive service to the region’s most medically complex children and young adults, and needs the help of its supporters now more than ever, in these uncertain times.
