Naomi House & Jacksplace Lego Walk

Naomi House & Jacksplace bring a Lego Walk and a Fire Walk to Winchester

Naomi House & Jacksplace, the region’s hospices for children and young adults with life limiting and life threatening illnesses, are bringing a Lego Walk and a Fire Walk to the Holiday Inn in Winchester.

Walking on Lego, as all parents of young children are painfully aware, is one of life’s most painful experiences, so the charity are inviting supporters to complete a barefoot Lego Walk at the Holiday Inn in Winchester to raise money for the charity.

On the 8th February from 4pm, challengers can either choose to walk over 649 degree hot coals or lots of little bits of Lego to raise money for their local hospices, based in Sutton Scotney near Winchester.

This year’s challenge events programme is the biggest Naomi House & Jacksplace has ever hosted, so they are anticipating a busy and exciting year of fundraising from supporters both old and new.

Fire walking is the practice of walking barefoot over hot coals or wood. When the fire has burned to red hot embers it is raked level and prepared for the walk. The temperature will be around 649 degrees and the sensation is described as walking on eggshells or walking on hot sand.

No prior training is required apart from a short seminar that would take place just before the event and there is no strenuous physical exercise involved or medical restrictions to part take in either the Fire Walk or Lego Walk, which both cost £25 to enter per participant.

Charlotte Patrick, Events Fundraiser at Naomi House & Jacksplace said:

We are so excited and pleased to be able to offer these brand new and unique events to our supporters for 2019. We know that a Fire Walk may not be for everyone, so by including a Lego Walk in our events programme we hope to attract lots of people of all ages to raise money for vital medical care and support offered to hundreds of life limited and life threatened children and adults in their local area.

Naomi House & Jacksplace hope more than 50 ambitious participants take on this challenge for local life limited and life threatened children and adults on good days, difficult days and last days.

As well as the Lego Walk and Fire Walk, other brand new events from Naomi House & Jacksplace in 2019 include the Jukebox Jog, the Glow Run and Game On, a sponsored gaming event that costs only £5 to enter.
