Naomi House & Jacksplace announce charity lottery winner in style

Naomi House & Jacksplace, the region’s hospices for children and young adults, run a weekly lottery to bolster fundraising efforts and give supporters a chance to win regular cash prizes. This Christmas draw was a little different thanks to Beal’s Estate Agents and Richmond Motor Group, who donated a brand new MG MG3 car as the star prize.

The charity has a Bond of Friendship with the recently commissioned ship and, as she is currently docked in Portsmouth, felt holding the lottery draw next to the ship usually reserved for F35 jets would be a fun and fitting way to draw attention to the charity’s lottery and the breadth of community support that underpins Naomi House & Jacksplace.

The charity’s car bumper draw received a staggering 26,042 entries. The winner of the car was Mrs Russell from Southampton, whose name was announced by Paul Morgan, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Naomi House & Jacksplace, with Gary Nicholson MBE, Executive Warrant Officer for HMS Prince of Wales, John McGilveray from Beal’s Estate Agents and Thomas Cullen from Richmond Motor Group, alongside the car sitting proudly in front of the ship. This was following a group tour of the ship from the Executive Warrant Officer.

Paul Morgan, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

This has been an extraordinary lottery draw and the inclusion of a new car thanks to Beal’s and Richmond Motor Group has really increased the number of players we have seen. Thanks to our friends in the Royal Navy, at HMNB and especially on HMS Prince of Wales, we have been able to make an already special lottery draw even more incredible. My thanks go to them all, and of course to our lottery players as well. As I’ve always said Naomi House & Jacksplace is a community resource, supporting children from communities across seven counties and underpinned by organisations as diverse as the Royal Navy, car dealerships, estate agents and many more.

John McGilveray, Marketing Manager for Beal’s Estate Agents, said:

I feel very privileged to have been a part of today’s proceedings on behalf of Beal’s Estate Agents. Receiving a tour from the Executive Warrant Officer of the HMS Prince of Wales really did top off the experience for me. We are so proud to support Naomi House & Jacksplace, and are delighted that this initiative achieved so many donations for this worthy charity.

Thomas Cullen, Group Marketing Manager for Richmond Motor Group, said:

I can’t believe we were able to announce the winner of the MG MG3 today alongside the newly commissioned HMS Prince of Wales – it really was an amazing experience that I feel honoured to have been a part of. We are so proud to support such an incredible charity and want to take this opportunity to thank all of the lottery entrants for playing.

The Naomi House & Jacksplace lottery is played by thousands of people each week, with regular prizes of £1,000, £100 and £50. The scheme raises significant money to enable the charity to continue offering expert palliative care to hundreds of life limited children, young adults and their families each year.
