Game On!

Naomi House and Jacksplace hosts first ever virtual event, Game On!

Naomi House & Jacksplace, hospices for children and young adults in Winchester, have announced their very first virtual event; Game On! The event, which people can take part in from the comfort of their own home, involves participants playing any game of their choice for as long as possible to raise money for the hospices via sponsorship fundraising.

From 1 – 3 March, gamers across the south are invited to battle it out with their friends and family, either online or around the dining table, to raise money for life limited and life threatened children and young adults. All types of games can be played, including classic card games, tense games of Monopoly or hilarious rounds of charades – this event is truly for everyone and it only costs £5 to enter.

Avid online gamers are also given the option to complete a 24 hour gaming marathon online with friends, using the live streaming service, Twitch, to ask for donations via GivePenny, an online donation platform. The hospice charity want participants to get as creative as they’d like, even by making up a game of their own!

This is a brand new concept of event for Naomi House & Jacksplace. Connor Phillips, Events Fundraising Assistant at the hospices, said:

Gaming is for anyone and everyone and is extremely popular with people of all ages. Not everyone has the ability to run a marathon or climb a mountain, so we created a fundraiser that’s accessible for everyone. You can take part in this event anywhere, that’s the beauty of it, so there’s no excuses to not get involved! We’re really excited at the prospect of lots of gamers taking part in our very first virtual event, so grab your controller, chess board or dice and sign up today!
