Local fostering agency celebrates dedicated Foster Carers

logo.BlueSkyLocal independent fostering agency, Blue Sky Fostering, took time out recently to celebrate the successes of its longest serving Foster Carers.

The agency, which has been deemed Outstanding by Ofsted on four consecutive occasions, invited Foster Carers who have fostered with them for ten years or more to join its Decade Club. It was an annual celebration at the Fisherman’s Haunt near Christchurch of the dedicated Foster Carers and staff who are committed to changing the lives of local children.

The Foster Carers who have supported many children, teenagers and parent and child foster placements over the past decade and beyond were asked by the agency to nominate a Blue Sky staff member who had the biggest impact on them during their fostering journey, to join them for the celebration lunch along with the founding members of the agency which was established in 2005.

It was a celebration of the dedicated Foster Carers and staff who are committed to changing the lives of local children. Jo Spears, PA to SMT at Blue Sky said:

Blue Sky are lucky to have carers that continue to provide the best care to our young people for ten years or more.

There are 20 members of this club and 2019 saw Sheila Barry and Alan Warr join. Our longest serving carers (14 years) are Alison & Brian Hartwell who had the honour of cutting the cake. The celebration was a very social occasion with carer’s catching up with each other, with much laughter and reminiscing!

Simon Lockyer, CEO and founder of Blue Sky Fostering, said about the Decade Club:

We hold regular events for our fostering families, but we wanted to do something extra special to acknowledge the continued commitment of our longest serving Foster Carers who have changed the lives of so many local young people over the years.

Our Foster Carers are fully committed to making a difference to the young people in their care, and this is best demonstrated by some of the stories they’ve shared about the positive outcomes of those they have cared for and continue to care for. Fostering is a life changing experience, so I am immensely grateful to everyone who has taken the leap to join the Blue Sky family over the past 14 years.
