Naomi House & Jacksplace, the region’s specialist hospice charity, has announced that it will be the lead local charity partner for Winchester Half Marathon 2019.
The Winchester Half Marathon is going into its fourth year with hundreds of runners expected to take part on Sunday 22nd September 2019. Over £65,000 was raised at the 2018 event for various local and national charities. Naomi House & Jacksplace had 18 runners supporting the charity last year and between them raised nearly £5,000.
Winchester Half Marathon is a challenging run that starts and finishes in the centre of Winchester. The route takes runners through the idyllic surrounding countryside with impressive views of St. Catherine’s Hill, The King Alfred Statue and Winchester Cathedral.
Kate Warne, Community Liaison Officer for Rees Leisure (the organisers of the Winchester Half Marathon) explained:
We are delighted that Naomi House & Jacksplace will be our Lead Local Charity again this year. The hospice do amazing work and are very important to our community. We hope to see lots of runners in Naomi House vests pounding the streets of Winchester this autumn.

While we care for children, young adults and families from across seven counties, the Winchester Half marathon really does feel like our home event. The Winchester Half is a really high quality event and we hope to see record numbers of Naomi House & Jacksplace runners supporting children and young adults on good days, difficult days and last days.
Located in Sutton Scotney, Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices provide expert hospice care to more than 325 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their extended families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.
