Beloved storyteller, Julia Donaldson takes to the stage to present The Gruffalo, The Witch and The Warthog at Theatre Royal Winchester from Thursday 31 October – Saturday 2 November.
The best-selling children’s book author presents a lively, fun show of six favourites, Room on the Broom, The Magic Paintbrush, The Ugly Five, Superworm, The Gruffalo, and The Cook and the King.
Joined on stage by her guitar-playing husband Malcolm and three others, Donaldson welcomes her young audience and their grown-ups to meet well-known characters including the cat, dog, frog and dinosaur from Room on the Broom, and the cuddly Gruffalo himself.
After the writer sold out Edinburgh Fringe Festival, she and her cast combine catchy songs, puppetry, masks and costumes on stage, to bring the worlds she has created on the page to life.
There is a post-show book signing with the author.
On Friday 1 November, at 10am, children aged 5 – 8 years old are invited to come to the theatre for a special The Gruffalo, The Witch and the Workshop activity morning, creating crafts inspired by the show. They will be supervised by the Creative Learning Team throughout and during the 1.30pm performance of The Gruffalo, The Witch and The Warthog. Tickets for the activity morning are available to buy and include entry to the show.
The Gruffalo, The Witch and The Warthog will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Thursday 31 October – Saturday 2 November. For more information about the craft event and to book tickets, visit theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01962 840440.
