Netball has become a really popular extra-curricular activity over the past few years at John Hanson School, with the netball club getting between 60-70 students every week!
Their hard-work and dedication has paid off as the Year 9, 10 and 11 leagues have just ended and John Hanson have come top of the league in all age groups.
In fact, all of the teams have never lost a match during all of their years at the school.
Mrs Vant, who runs the club and the teams said:
I am delighted with the success of the netball teams. They have such passion for the game, and love playing. They are a real credit to our school
John Hanson also run an annual netball tour to Liddington, where the students get to play other teams from across the UK over a weekend of fun and games. 45 girls have signed up to go on this year’s trip in May.
Hannah Taylor, Year 11 team captain said:
I really love playing netball. We have been given lots of opportunities to play netball at school, and we have been to watch Superleague netball matches where we have met England netball players which has really inspired me.
The Year 8’s begin their league at the end of January and are hopeful they can also hold on to their undefeated record from last year. The newly developed Year 7 team also start their quest to keep John Hanson’s unbeaten record at the end of the month.
