Steel Magnolias is set in 1980’s Louisiana and centres around a beauty salon in a little town called Chinquapin. ‘Anyone who is anyone’ locally uses the salon and it is a hub for gossip, intrigue and networking. The friendship between the salon’s clients is thoroughly explored as the play progresses and the storyline weaves through many emotions from acerbic humour to poignant tragedy. The strength of the bonds between the all-female cast becomes very clear and audiences will enjoy a roller coaster plot which is both very funny and deeply moving by turns.
Curtain up is on 25/26/27 April at 7.45pm at the Vernon Theatre. Tickets are available from the Lyndhurst Community Centre from 1 April with phone bookings and enquiries on 023 8028 2729 – £9 for 25 April and £10 for 26/27 April.
