and Dumbshow announces their first produced children’s show in NST City studio: Humbug! The Hedgehog Who Couldn’t Sleep. This brand new, funny and uplifting tale for children will run from 13 – 30 December.

Set locally in the snowy New Forest, Humbug the hedgehog is trying to hibernate for the winter but her home comes under threat and she is forced to leave. Humbug sets out on an exciting adventure in search of a new home, meeting a host of woodland friends along the way, including a fiendish fox, singing songbird and a merry mouse called Mo.

All performances will be relaxed, with cushions on the floor for seating, designed for little ones to immerse themselves into the action; the perfect introduction to theatre.

Lotte Allan plays Humbug. Lotte is an actor and comedy improviser. Lotte’s theatre credits include acting and devising in the comedy parodies NachosReservoir Mogs, and Goldilock, Stock, and Three Smoking Bears (The Wardrobe Theatre); Current Location (Fellswoop Theatre, UK and international Tour); Malvolio’s Misorder (V&A). Lotte has been involved in making many Dumbshow productions including To the End of the WorldClockheart BoyRoarThe PearlMoonDeath of King Cholera, and Wild Wood. 

Caleb Roberts plays Volpone the Fox. Caleb studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2017. He made his professional debut playing The King of France opposite Sir Ian McKellen in King Lear (Chichester Festival Theatre and West End). Theatre whilst training includes: Franny in Balm In Gilead; Jessup in The Same Deep Water As Me; Pierrepoint Finch in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying; Darren in Mercury Fur; Dionysus in The Bacchae; John Proctor in The Crucible and Shylock in The Merchant Of Venice. Television includes: Stephen Frears’ A Very English Scandal (BBC).

Patrick Osborne plays Mo the Mouse. Patrick is a television and stage actor who trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Patrick’s theatre credits include Shakespeare In Love (Noel Coward Theatre, West End), Peter Pan (Regents Park Theatre), Noises Off (Nottingham Playhouse and Tour), The Cardinal (Southwark Playhouse), Accolade and After October (Finborough Theatre).

Screen credits include seven series of My Parents Are Aliens, Domenico in drama The Borgias (2010), Turner (2012), and feature film Their Finest (2017).

Humbug! The Hedgehog Who Couldn’t Sleep is a funny and uplifting tale of friendship, community and belonging, recommended for under 5s.

Free drop in children’s activities will be available on Friday and Saturday performances.
