Council awards Business Incentive Grant to new breakthrough technology company

The boss of a new innovation business at the University of Southampton Science Park has thanked Test Valley Borough Council after benefiting under a grant scheme.

Dr Damian Gardiner is delighted to have received a £750 grant from the Council, following the launch of his new business Optomel. His company, based in the Science Park’s Catalyst Centre, offers breakthrough optical filter technology for innovators and designers.

Damian completed both a physics and a masters degree at Southampton University and then went on to achieve a PhD in liquid crystal devices at Cambridge University.

Chilworth ward member, Councillor Alison Finlay said:

Test Valley Borough Council is delighted to support Dr Gardiner in his new venture. I wish him every success as he takes his business forward.

Damian added:

The Council grants available to new businesses are fantastic and give owners the opportunity to invest in developing their business further. I’d like to thank the Council for their support.

The Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley.

Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
