Call to foster teens amid COVID-19 pandemic

Blue Sky Fostering, a local fostering agency based in Romsey, has urged those who may be looking for a new career to consider fostering teenagers. Those who are looking to change lives for the better could also benefit from job security and the opportunity to work from home.

Teenagers account for the largest age group in the care system, with 39% being aged 10-15 and 24% being aged 16 and over*. You can help these teenagers find their way in life and provide stability and parental care to help break down the barrier built from the neglect and abuse they may have face in childhood. You will not have to do it alone, as Blue Sky Fostering provide 24/7 support and unrivalled training.

Blue Sky Foster Carer, Richard Pearce, said:

My wife and I have had the pleasure of at least a dozen teenagers coming to stay with us in our time as Foster Carers, some just for a weekend some for four years right up until their transition from care to Independent living. The support from Blue Sky hasn’t changed during the lockdown, we continue to be supported online.

If you think you have the resilience and stickability needed to look after teenagers and young people in care and want to find out more about fostering, find them on Facebook and Twitter. You can also visit Blue Sky Fostering’s website www.blueskyfostering.com or call them on 0800 035 6499 for more information.
