This year (2019) marked the 11th trip Winton Community Academy has gone to New York. 20 adventurous students and 3 staff flew half-way across the world for a week of sights, sounds, food and shopping. An experience that is second-to-none
and one no-one will forget.
Some students had never been on a plane before or out of the country. For others this was their second visit to America in some form or another. All of the students were magnificent, and whilst away we received many remarks on our excellent behaviour and politeness of the students, which is always a pleasure to receive.
Over the week students experienced ice skating in Central Park, the top of the Empire State Building at night with magnificent views of Manhattan at night, a cruise all-round the island of Manhattan, a Broadway show, the Hard Rock Cafe, the MET, The United Nations building, the Highline walk and numerous other sights and experiences.

I had such an amazing time, I never thought I would get to New York, especially with my friends, I have seen so much. The best trip ever!

It is memories like this that will stay with the students for the rest of their lives and it’s my pleasure to be with them to experience this for the first time. The opportunities we give the students shape their lives and seeing the world, the cities that they have only ever seen on TV and in films makes them realise that anything is possible for them.
