The New Forest Heritage Centre has recently appointed a new manager due to the retirement of Hilary Marshall.
Chair of Trustees, the Hon Mrs Mary Montagu-Scott, said:
After 12 wonderful years with Hilary Marshall as our Centre Manager she has decided to retire. There were some 50 applicants, and five were interviewed by a panel of Trustees. I am delighted that Giles Gould, formerly the Head of Commercial Services at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, accepted our offer of employment. Giles is a practising Commoner, living in Fordingbridge, so knows the forest and our subject matter well. Prior to this he worked as the Operations Manager at The City Hall, Salisbury, as well as running the family farm.
Giles brings with him many excellent skills and a wealth of experience in leadership, commercial, retail, and the heritage sector. I am very sad to see Hilary leaving us but do understand her wish to move on to work on her own textile work and take life a little easier. Everyone at the New Forest Heritage Centre wish her all the best for the future, and thank her deeply for her contribution to the past.
Education Officer, Caroline Stride, has also retired in order to enjoy time with her growing family.
