Anton Rotary reacts to Humanitarian Crisis in Malawi

Anton Rotary club has sent two ‘Shelter Boxes’ to the area devastated by the recent attack of Cyclone Idai. The cyclone left 125000 Malawians without homes and affected almost 1 million people throughout the area.

Although well known for supporting local charities and helping  Andover  residents by raising money locally to be spent locally. Anton Rotary Club has built up an emergency fund over the years to support international disasters, £1200 of this fund has been allocated to support for Malawi in the form of purchasing two Shelterboxes.

Each Shelterbox typically contains a tent, specially designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, water purification kit, blankets, tools, and other necessities to help a family survive after a disaster.[1] The contents of a Shelterbox are tailored to the nature and location of the disaster and the green Shelterbox is portable and designed to be carried by two people.

The disaster relief partnership between Rotary and Shelterbox will provided a place of refuge to people facing some of the most difficult and uncertain moments in their lives.

Anton Rotary Club is committed to supporting the local population in Hampshire while noting worldwide disasters and helping whenever possible.
