Andover College's pantomime Sleeping Beauty

Andover College Students get the audience into the Christmas spirit with their Sleeping Beauty Pantomime!

Logo.Andover CollegeAndover College’s Performing Arts students recently showcased their talent and skills in their Sleeping Beauty Pantomime, in the professional setting of The Lights Theatre. Parents, friends, staff and students left the theatre full to the brim with Christmas cheer.

Students have been intensively rehearsing since October for the performance which brought many of the college’s departments together to work on the show. The Performing Arts, Music and Dance students have been working together on various parts of the performance whilst Hairdressing students created and finessed the look of each character. Stage Management students were in charge of controlling the set design, lighting and sound for each of the three shows.

Head of Performing Arts, Rob Collier said:

The pantomime is an important part of the Christmas tradition at Andover College and is a great way to start the Christmas period with some festive cheer. The Pantomime shows that Andover College is all about teamwork. The staff and students all come together to create this incredible performance and they do it with such professionalism. We are proud to give our students the experience they need to be prepared for the industry. The pantomime will always be my favourite time of the year and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team this year.

Arian Speight, studying HNC in Performing Arts, played Aurora and she said:

The whole pantomime has been a great experience and I have enjoyed playing such a vital part of the performance. Having the opportunity to work with various subject areas across the college has been incredible. I have gained unbeatable experience throughout the whole project.

Find out more about all of our subjects areas at our next Open Event on 6 February 2020, or online at andover.ac.uk.
