An Aquarium for Romsey

Last year, members of the Romsey community created a ‘Zoo’ from plant-pot animals…….. and this year, they have created an ‘Aquarium’ !

During ‘Lockdown’, staff of ‘Romsey Young Carers’ have been delivering packages of various ‘goodies’ to their members, to help them get through this difficult time. One of the deliveries was a template and craft materials to make some brightly-decorated fish. The finished fish were collected in, and made into a display of the group’s work. It was hoped that by seeing their work together, members of the ‘Romsey Young Carers’ would feel part of a group again, following their isolation.

As Romsey Town Hall was not being used for functions, the Town Council kindly allowed the ground floor windows to be turned into ‘tanks’ of almost 100 colourful fish. Most of the fish were made by members of ‘Romsey Young Carers’– with participants of Greenbuttercup CIC’sHome Activity Programme’ for people living with Dementia adding some to the ‘tank’ looking onto the Market Place.

Thanks go to the Town Council for re-purposing their building, and also the Town Centre Manager, who was good enough to install the display ready for the shoppers’ return to the town to provide some much needed cheer. The fish will be there until the Town Hall rooms are in use again.
