Regional cancer charity, Wessex Cancer Trust, is setting you a New Years challenge! Kick start 2018 with a virtual challenge – walking 165 miles within the month of January (1st – 31st ) and raise money to support local families affected by cancer.
It has been inspired by the beautiful Wessex countryside and the long-distance path, the Great Wessex Way which runs between Salisbury and Lyme Regis. Averaging at about 10,000 steps a day (or 5 miles) you can choose where, when and how you will complete the distance mileage. You can even complete the challenge as a pair or team to make it achievable for everyone.
There is no need to be put off by technology either. Wessex Cancer Trust will help you track your steps with a Walker Tracker Sheet (provided on sign up) if you don’t want to use a pedometer or an app.
Everyone who completes the 165 miles by 31 st January will receive a bespoke medal to mark the achievement.

Thanks to advances in cancer prevention, early detection and treatment, more people than ever before are surviving the disease. However, until there’s a day when everyone wins the battle, there is still much more to do.
