Cheque Presentation

Thorntons continues to thrive

Test Valley Borough Council has awarded the second installment of a £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant to Dave Stanbridge for his Thorntons franchise business in Union Street.

Dave opened the Thorntons franchise in January 2015 and it sits alongside his event décor business, Tip Top Balloons. Dave said;

Bringing Thorntons back to Andover town centre has been highly successful and I am grateful to Test Valley Borough Council for the second £500 grant installment and their ongoing support.

St Mary’s ward member, Councillor David Denny presented the cheque and said:

Mr Stanbridge has been a valued member of the local business community for more than 15 years and we are pleased to continue supporting his success in running the Thorntons franchise business.

Recipients of the £1,000 grant are awarded £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 after nine months. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
