Tesco Bag Pack, Winton Community Academy

The Mayor joins pupils from Winton Community Academy at Tesco Extra to raise funds for their theatre

A bustling Tesco Extra this morning saw a group of pupils from Winton Community Academy giving up some of their spare time to help bag pack to raise funds to improve the facilities in the schools theatre. Teachers were also only to happy to join in. Donna Robertson, Head of Computers and Business & part of the Enterprise Club at Winton Academy said she felt

extremely privileged that the Mayor and Tesco’s are helping to support us with raising funds for our theatre including seating and small projectors to improve Winton Academy for all pupils, staff and more importantly the local community.

Jaky Liu, Head Boy at Winton Community Academy was just one of the pupils who was
helping Tesco’s customers to pack their shopping and he remarked that

as Head Boy I am proud to represent Winton Community Academy at this bag pack. All the funds will go towards new seats in our theatre and it is part of a fundraising scheme in order to raise our profile.

Tesco Extra customers were very generously donating money to the cause as they had their bags packed by the students. Sheryl Scott- Clarke, Tesco’s Community Champion who organised the event was pleased to see the fund raising doing so well and commented that

Tesco Extra, Andover are proud to be supporting Winton Community Academy with their theatre project and using our store for good and supporting wherever needed.

Her colleague Cathy Ness, Customer Experience Manager concurred saying

We are very proud to be supporting Winton Academy today at Tesco Extra in Andover. Our community champion Sheryl is extremely passionate in supporting Charity Events and helping raise awareness & money for our local community

The bag collection today should help Winton Academy get off to a flying start in raising money to fund their new theatre. We wish them all the best and look forward to supporting more events in the future.

All in all everyone had a great morning and enjoyed chatting to customers about the fundraising scheme. It was a successful event that will go towards helping the theatre improve that will benefit the school and it’s pupils.
The Worshipful Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Iris Andersen said

it is a great pleasure to support Winton Community Academy to raise funds for them. I want to Thank Sheryl Scott- Clarke, Tesco’s Community Champion for supporting this event
