Test Valley Borough Council this week received the draft Revised Local Plan report from the government inspector who was responsible for scrutinising it. From the draft it is clear that inspector is going to find the plan to be “sound” subject to the inclusion of some final modifications which were already agreed by the council in April.
The report, received on Wednesday 25 November, is NOT FOR PUBLICATION at this stage. The initial sharing of the draft is an opportunity for the council to check for any factual errors and to clarify any conclusions which may be unclear. It is not an opportunity for the council to question any of the inspector’s conclusions. The council has to complete the fact check within two weeks of receiving the report.
Subject to the outcome of the fact check, the planning inspector will release a final version of the report which the council will then publish.
Planning policy and transport portfolio holder, Councillor Martin Hatley said;
I am absolutely delighted that all the hard work of officers and councillors has been rewarded. This will be a powerful weapon in protecting the borough from inappropriate development.
