This morning, many people gathered at Andover Leisure Centre suited and booted as Santa ready to take part in this year’s Valley Leisure Santa Fun Run !
Santa’s of all ages with it’s youngest participant being 2 years old and eldest at 80 years old, joined Santa’s with paws, a Santa star representing TVBC recycling stars and a cute little elf to raise money for charity. The amount of support was considerably higher than other years showing that the popularity of this event continues to grow, with the community showing their willingness to help others by raising much needed funds for charity with great Christmas spirit !
The Worshipful Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Iris Andersen was in attendance alongside her consort Cllr John Cockaday and other Councillors also joined the event showing their support. The Mayor encouraged and thanked those who were taking part as they warmed up ready for the 1 mile run/jog/walk around the town centre in aid of Cancer Research UK and Free Smiles.
There was a jolly atmosphere as everyone got ready at the start line with lots of smiles from families with the young ones particularly enjoying the moment making memories for years to come. All the Santa’s all did remarkably well completing the Fun Run and were presented with a certificate on the finish line!
Summing up the morning, the Mayor said ‘What a tremendous get together for families to raise money. It was a great morning with over 350 attending and it is a fantastic event for all the community’
