The Andover Nursing Home has achieved a national award for its compassionate and dignified approach to end of life care.
Staff at the 87-bed home in Weyhill Road received the National Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award in recognition of their proven commitment to highly personalised care which reflects residents’ wishes from the day they arrive right through until the time of their death.
The award comes within weeks of The Andover Nursing Home receiving an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission; an accolade which ranks it among the top 42 nursing homes in England.
Commenting on the Gold Standards Framework award, Matron Louise Bulloch RN said:
Ensuring that people live well until the very end of their lives is a fundamental part of everything we do.
This award reflects our commitment to best practice training which ensures staff have the confidence to help residents make sensitive decisions about how they wish to be cared for in the last years of life.
It also provides evidence that we have all the necessary skills and resources in place to ensure their personal wishes are carried out.
The Andover Nursing Home provides general nursing care for the elderly and people with physical disabilities and learning difficulties. It has specialist facilities for people living with dementia and offers dedicated treatment for disease, disorder and injury.
