THE children’s ward at Royal Hampshire County Hospital has a new kitchen worth £1000 thanks to a kind gift from Howdens Joinery.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Royal Hampshire County Hospital and the hospitals in Andover and Basingstoke, contacted the company, which has a store in Winchester, to request a catalogue as the kitchen in Northbrook Ward needed refurbishing.
To their surprise, Howdens Joinery offered to supply and fit the kitchen free of charge.
Jackie Evans, ward manager’s assistant on Northbrook Ward, said:
It’s made a huge difference to the ward. We are arranging for a plaque to be made to acknowledge the donation.
Howdens have been trading in Winchester for 14 years under the management of Fred Broomfield and have raised money for Alresford rugby club, Sparsholt School and Northbrook Ward so far this year.
They also dedicated the whole of June to fundraising, collecting money for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice at Andover War Memorial Hospital. They raised £1214.87, more than any other depot in the region.
