Highways England have announced they plan to build a 1.8 mile tunnel under Stonehenge, bypass Winterbourne Stoke, and improve the existing junctions between the A303 and the intersecting A345 and A360.
The agency say that this will ease congestion and reduce the number of accidents.
Member of Parliament for North West Hampshire, Kit Malthouse welcomed the proposals that will cut the heavy traffic around his constituency which includes the town Andover, a major logistics hub, saying:
