Mowing the Lawn

Monthly Garden Gazette – May

It’s now that time of year when we all want our garden looking as good as possible, perhaps for a BBQ or party, or maybe just to sit outside and relax with a quiet drink after work or at the weekend.

The grass will typically need cutting at least every two weeks and it’s also a good time to prune back many of the shrubs and plants that might otherwise get out of control during the Summer months ahead. You can still over seed any bare patches of lawn too.

Weeding is rarely a popular job, but little and often is the key to keep borders and beds under control, you might prefer to use weed killer on paths, patios and driveways.
Food, glorious food!!

Buy just a few packs of seeds and you can grow your own salad leaves and herbs with very little effort. It’s a good idea to grow them in pots so you can start them inside until any late frosts have passed, and then move them to a warm spot outside. Tomatoes can also be grown from seed, or otherwise bought as small plants and grown in a sunny location.

Even for those with no real interest in growing plants, just pressure washing the patio or repainting the fence can make a real difference to the way your garden looks for those May Bank Holiday weekends.

I can offer regular grass cutting and general garden maintenance services for those who either need some extra help or simply don’t have the time themselves.
