Meet the Test Valley Business Awards 2016 finalists: New Business of the Year Award

Learn more about the Test Valley Business Awards New Business of the Year finalists…

On 22 September The Lights, Andover will host the largest celebration of business excellence with 12th Test Valley Business Awards Gala Dinner. The New Business award has featured strongly over the last decade simply because new businesses are the lifeblood of any economy.

The award category is sponsored by Test Valley Borough Council because it recognises the need to support new enterprise and that it is well-placed to lend a helping hand through start up grants, advice, premises and much more.

This year’s award relates to businesses that started trading after January 2013; which have overcome challenges and which show originality and continued growth – no easy task!
The Awards ceremony offers a chance for new businesses in Test Valley to share their stories and celebrate success. The Awards offer a great opportunity to gain valuable publicity and promote their expertise.

This year’s finalists clearly show the incredible variety of new businesses being created:

· Dawes Highway Safety Ltd.
· Golden Gecko Climbing Ltd.
· Lindy’s Light Lunches Ltd.

We were extremely impressed with our shortlist of new businesses. The ingenuity, dedication and courage “to make it happen” is inspiring, comments Test Valley Borough Council’s Economic Portfolio holder Peter Giddings.

All of the entries we received this year were of a high standard, and so it was especially difficult to shortlist just 3. However, the ones we have chosen as finalists stand out to us, and we are very much looking forward to announcing the winner in September!

Delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist, Lindy Darmanin of Lindy’s Light Lunches said:

We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted in the Test Valley Business Awards. Starting your own business takes a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication. Once I knew we were nominated I felt personally so proud that my customers had taken the time to nominate us. As this is a regional award it makes it even more special. I wish all the finalists good luck and a personal ‘Well Done’ we are doing great things for our community.

Goeff Niblett, Managing Director of Golden Gecko Climbing remarked upon being shortlisted:

Being shortlisted for the TVBA has been a huge encouragement. We have been delighted at the community’s response to our centre and very much appreciate this further recognition of our efforts.

Now in its 12th year, the Test Valley Business Awards – run by a small steering group of volunteers and supported by the Council – has become a well-established platform to promote businesses excellence and especially to shine a light on the many new and small innovative businesses operating out of sight. It is a great way to enable smaller enterprises to gain the recognition and exposure to grow.

The Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony will take place at The Lights, Andover, on the evening of 22nd September. Tickets are just £50 to include a welcome drink and sumptuous 3 course meal provided by Michelin Award Winning chefs McCrimmon & Reid.
