Local food producers and technology & innovation – are we looking for Test Valley’s answer to Heston Blumenthal?

Entries are rolling in for all of the Test Valley Business Awards 6 award categories but entrants seems to be a little shy for the two specialist categories this year: Local Food & Drink Producer, sponsored by McCrimmon & Reid, and Technology & Innovation, sponsored by the University of Southampton Science Park; so a Test Valley Heston Blumenthal would be a perfect combination!

The Test Valley Business Awards’ newest Gold Sponsor, Andover-based caterers McCrimmon & Reid, are looking for innovative, passionate food & drink producers within the borough to enter for this year’s Awards.

With a passion for locally sourced, seasonal food of quality with a creative edge, McCrimmon & Reid was established in the summer of 2014 by Michelin award-winning chef Alan Haughie.

Keen to share his expertise with other local businesses in the field, Alan is encouraging all food & drink producers based within the Test Valley to enter the Awards; from brewers and cheesemakers, vineyards and farmers to independent bakers and chocolatiers.

Supporting local business is really important, says Alan Haughie of McCrimmon & Reid. And something we hold very dear at M&R. There are so many exceptional producers doing exciting things with food & drink right on our doorstep, and we want to celebrate their achievements! Please enter today and help us to celebrate what it means to be a ‘local business’.

The Awards categories and Gold Sponsors for 2016 are:

         Doing Business Locally – Taylored IT

         Food & Drink Producer of the Year – McCrimmon & Reid

         Innovation & Technology Award – University of Southampton Science Park

         New Business of the Year – Test Valley Borough Council

         Small Business of the Year – Wilkins Kennedy

There is also a special award for 2016, in memory of long-standing Steering Committee member Brenda Locke, who sadly passed away suddenly last year. The Brenda Locke Award, sponsored by Andover Mutual Business Group and friends of Brenda, will celebrate Women in Business.

Now in its 12th year, the Test Valley Business Awards – run by a small steering group of volunteers and supported by the Council – has become a well-established platform to promote businesses excellence and especially to shine a light on the many new and small innovative businesses operating out of sight. It is a great way to enable smaller enterprises to gain the recognition and exposure to grow.

Businesses are free to enter themselves or members of the public, and other businesses may nominate partners, suppliers, or local businesses they feel are deserving of an award; the Awards are free to enter and all nominations and entries must be done online; nominations/entries close on 6th May 2016.
