The Lights is a hub for the creativity community in Andover and surrounding areas, and as part of its commitment to supporting local talent, the venue offers free exhibition space for local artists.
The curved wall in the Arena café offers a prominent canvas for local artists to display their work to a wide and varied audience.
One talented local artist, Linda Machin, recently displayed her dramatic canvases at The Lights and said that the feedback and support she received from the public and the venue has given her: “the confidence to once again pick up my paintbrushes.”
Linda is part of the Art Group at Andover Mind which aims to encourage well-being for people with mental health issues through creativity. A spokesperson for Andover Mind said:
Art is a powerful medium through which people can express their emotions and work through problems in their lives. For members of our art group to be able to display their work in such a welcoming and supportive environment as The Lights, and to receive public feedback helps enormously towards encouraging well-being.
The exhibition wall is available to individual artists, art groups and community groups free of charge for exhibitions of one month duration at a time.
If you are interested in displaying your work please contact The Lights Box Office in the first instance on 01264 368368.
