A Kaleioscope of Music supports local cause

RMVCTwo years ago, Romsey Male Voice Choir enjoyed a successful concert tour in Jersey singing with the Island’s only male choir, The Jersey Harmony Men. At the end of April, the Harmony Men returned the compliment to sing a kaleidoscope of music with RMVC at the Methodist Church in Chandlers Ford, where a full and appreciative audience helped the choirs raise the grand total of £1910 for the Eastleigh Child Contact Centre – a charity actively supported by the Church.

Both choirs sang a varied programme of arrangements from their repertoires, but the applause was loudest following joint numbers including Unchained Melody, You’ll Never Walk Alone and Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. In the audience, Vivienne Ames from the Eastleigh Child Contact Centre was enthusiastic about the evening, and grateful to RMVC for choosing to help the work of the charity.

On behalf of the trustees of our charity I can’t thank you enough. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the audience and it is with great pleasure that your donation will in part go to replacing some of our toys for direct use by the children. Thanks to both of the choirs for the magnificent performance of An American Trilogy as the finale to the concert, I think it outshone Elvis’s version!

Eastleigh Child Contact Centre runs supported contact sessions for referred families. Its focus is the children of separated families, offering the opportunity for them to spend time with one or both parents, where there is no viable alternative for contact to occur.

Romsey Male Voice Choir’s next local concert, Men & Magnificent Music’ will be held in Romsey Abbey on Saturday 15 July 2017. For more details visit www.romseymvc.co.uk
