It’s a pleasure to play in Test Valley

Test Valley Borough Council is undertaking a major project to refurbish its existing play parks and install a range of new facilities over the coming year.

The authority is set to refurbish play areas at Admirals Way, Highlands Road and Winton Chase and it is also planning to install a new surface at the Colenzo Drive play area and new walls at the Pilgrims Way multi use games area. The southern half of the borough will benefit from a new play area at Joe Bigwood Close in Rownhams and the play areas at Wicklow Drive in Valley Park and Botley Road open space Woodley and Great Woodley will be partially refurbished. The council has also received planning permission to refurbish the skate parks at Knightwood Leisure Centre and intends to submit a planning application for the refurbishment of the skate park at Romsey Sports Centre.

Community and leisure portfolio holder, councillor Tony Ward, said:

The council is undertaking a major project to significantly enhance its local play parks, outdoor exercise trails and skate parks. Play areas are obviously great fun, but most importantly they help children to get active and stay healthy. We have also installed a number of new ‘trim trails’ in the borough, which enable people of all ages to exercise outside and enjoy some fresh air. It is important that residents have access to high quality facilities and the council is working hard to deliver them.

Last year, as well as installing and refurbishing various children’s play parks across the borough, the council also installed new outdoor gym equipment and ‘trim trails’ at Charlton Lakes, Watermills Park, East Anton Sports Ground, Picket Twenty urban park and Romsey War Memorial Park.
