MP Kit Malthouse with Harrow Way Students

Harrow Way Students Join Kit in Parliament

On Tuesday 19th December, students from Harrow Way School visited the Palace of Westminster to learn about the role of Parliament and for a tour of the estate. They were joined by Kit Malthouse MP in the Education Centre.

The students learned how Parliament passes legislation, about the role of MPs in representing their constituents and about the history of our democracy’s evolution in Westminster.

The students’ tour included the ancient Westminster Hall built in 1097 following the Norman Conquest, the 13th century St Stephen’s Hall which housed the original House of Commons, as well as the House of Commons chamber and the House of Lords.

Kit said:

Parliament is for everyone and it’s so important that young people get the chance to understand how our democracy works. The Palace of Westminster is a fantastic setting teeming with hundreds of years of history and I’m sure the students had a brilliant time and learned a lot.
