Hampshire agrees £470,000 support for young people

Hampshire County Council has committed over£470,000 funding to support vulnerable children and young people in local communities.

Grants have been awarded to 24 organisations across the county, to provide targeted support services for children and young people, in partnership with, and on behalf of the County Council.

Councillor Keith Mans, Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services, said:

These organisations play an important role in supporting our commitment to helping to improve the lives of all children and young people and, in particular those who are vulnerable and in need of help and protection. We want to do the very best we can for those vulnerable young people, to help them to be healthy, stay safe and to achieve beyond their expectations.

Projects to be funded include:

  • a family therapy service to support families struggling with the impact of child abuse;
  • support and activities for vulnerable young people via club and outreach sessions;
  • one to one support for young carers, providing opportunities for young carers to have a break from their caring responsibilities;
  • support and services for young Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT);
  • and courses for young mothers, enabling them to manage more independently and to reach their individual goals.
