Andover Trees United are at the mid-point of their 10-year woodland creation programme at their main site, Harmony Wood, which can be found just beyond the East Anton Sports Ground adjacent to Augusta park. The long-term aim of the project is to offer a space that inspires a love of the natural world through a wide-range of creative activities that promotes an understanding of the climate crisis and the need for environmental stewardship.
Already they can claim to have had a massive impact on the lives of the young people of Andover as over two thousand children have taken part in the tree planting sessions that are held annually during the autumn in conjunction with Andover’s schools. But, children aren’t their only targets there are weekly training and volunteering sessions for adults of all ages and abilities in Harmony Wood making use of their new indoor classroom space, in neighbouring woodlands to which they have management rights and at their tree and wildflower nursery.
There is an amazing year ahead, full of exciting activities for people to come and share with us. There are weekly training and volunteering sessions for adults of all ages and abilities in Harmony Wood, in the neighbouring woodlands to which they have management rights and at their tree and wildflower nursery. These are free for our volunteers and for those that dedicate a little time for us, so why not join our volunteers’ register. Alternatively, you can come to any of these events for a small charity fee to cover costs.
