GCSE students visit Windsor Castle

JHC
John Hanson Community School student Lewis Bloomfield writes: ‘Our Year 10 GCSE History trip to Windsor Castle was a great day out. Whilst we were there,
we got to see and experience some really fascinating things, learning about the
history of the castle and seeing all of the historic buildings and artefacts.

Starting off the day was visiting St. Georges Chapel, which had lots of gothic architecture, and also lots of information about the Kings and Queens who have resided at the castle during its long history. We then had a ‘lesson’ in their education room about the history of the castle, learning about the battles and why certain features of the castle buildings are as they are today. Following lunch, we toured the main part of the castle, viewing lots of royal art and historic memorabilia.

Overall, the Windsor trip was a success. I would recommend a visit to other students working towards GCSE History as it provided us with lots of information for our assessment. Members of the general public would also find it a rewarding trip too.’
