Volunteers joined trustees and staff at Friends of the Family’s annual volunteer thank you lunch which took place on Thursday 7 June at Zizzi’s restaurant, Winchester. The lunch is held each year to thank volunteers for their dedication and commitment to the charity and the children and families they support.
All of the volunteers are befrienders with the charity’s 5s to 13s Befriending Service which is marking its 10th Anniversary this year. The volunteers spend two hours a week visiting a child and supporting them, both practically and emotionally, through the difficulties they are facing.
The event coincided with National Volunteers Week which celebrates volunteering across the country.
Lisa Travers, Volunteer Coordinator, said:
This is our chance to show our volunteers how much they mean to us and to thank them for their hard work, their enthusiasm and their commitment to the children they support. It was a really enjoyable lunch and wonderful that so many could join us to mark our 10th anniversary year.
