Armed Forces Flag

Flag raised to honour Armed Forces

Mayor of Test Valley, councillor Ian Carr, attended a flag raising ceremony at Andover Guildhall on Monday 18 June to mark the run up to national Armed Forces Day.

A representative from the Royal British Legion also attended the ceremony and Reverend Canon Jill Bentall blessed the flag before it was raised.

Councillor Carr, said:

I was delighted so many people attended the flag raising, including ex-service people, members of the public and local councillors. It is incredibly important to remember the sacrifices our armed forces personnel have made, both past and present. The flag raising ceremony is an opportunity to reflect on all those who have dedicated their lives, and those who have so bravely given their lives, to protect our country.

Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday, 30 June and is an opportunity for the public to show their support for serving troops, veterans, cadets and their families.
